At the begining it did not looked promising for Indiana but it was a surprising way to return to win it
he Indiana Fever suffered but managed to win an important game. It was an 88-82 victory against the Phoenix Mercury, after overcoming a 15-point deficit in the third quarter.
After falling 89-77 to the Seattle Storm on Thursday, Indiana was on a two-game losing streak. Despite the loss, Caitlin Clarkhad a solid performance, scoring 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Meanwhile, Phoenix defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 92-78 at home on Friday and looked to continue their good performances. Little did they know that even when they thought they could stay on a high level, Indiana had another thing in mind.
The Phoenix defense was complicated for the Fever to overcome at the beginning, as Indiana continued to struggle to find their best rhythm of play, and they were immediately surprised by the Mercury who took a 10-point lead in the first minutes of the game, due to several failures by Indy.
The bad start made them leave with a 20-26 disadvantage, where Aliyah Boston was the most consistent in the attack, although they suffered from several fouls that buried them.
It seemed like a simple game for Diana Taurasi and company, who got within 11 points in the second quarter to go to halftime 38-49 and without any major complications.
But the awakening of the Fever came thanks to a streak by Caitlin Clark and NaLyssa Smith who, with three-pointers, managed to cut a 15-point deficit and then turn the game around.
It was in the last quarter when they were able to come back to win the game against one of the contending teams of the WNBA season. They managed to make a fierce run to sealed with good defense and free throws for a big win.
