Emma Raducanu was tearful and felt “sad” as she continued to wait for her first win at the US Open following her memorable 2021 victory.
The 21-year-old shocked the globe three years ago by clinching the title in her third senior competition, but it has not been a fruitful place for her ever since.
Following a first-round elimination in 2022 and absence in the previous year due to injury, Sofia Kenin brought more disappointment by securing a 6-1 3-6 6-4 victory on the Grandstand court.
I am eager to perform successfully in this competition.
She added, “I will return to the beginning and focus on training and analyzing my mistakes to make improvements for the remaining season.”
“Clearly, the major tennis tournaments have ended for this year, but it won’t be too long before Australia’s turn comes again.”
After only participating in one tournament after Wimbledon and deciding to skip the Olympics in order to concentrate on the US Open, there are still uncertainties about the future of her career.
She acknowledged the possibility of having made a mistake in her preparation.
She stated that she would have liked to play some more before entering the US Open.
“I am aware that when I have numerous matches, similar to all other players, I experience a great sense of satisfaction, as if everything is effortless.”
“It was not only myself.” It was similar to a group decision, and that’s how it played out, and there’s nothing I can do to alter it.
Raducanu faced a challenging match against the former Australian Open champion, who demonstrated some of h er top-notch skills.
Kenin developed a specific fondness for Raducanu’s serve and managed to break it three times during a decisive first set.
