Canadian professional player Leylah Annie Fernandez succeeded in both singles and doubles formats at a young age. She achieved a career-high ranking of No 13 in singles on August 2022, and No. 17 in doubles in October 2023, by WTA. She finished runner-up at the 2023 French Open in doubles alongside Taylor Townsend and the 2021 US Open in singles.

At the 2021 US Open, Fernandez defeated Naomi Osaka in the third round, Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals and Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal. Fernandez reached the quarterfinals of the 2023 US Open in doubles and the 2022 French Open in singles.

She has won three WTA singles titles at the 2021 and 2022 Monterrey Open. She won her third WTA title at the 2023 Hong Kong Open, defeating Victoria Azarenka, Mirra Andreeva and Katerina Siniakova.

She reached the final of the 2023 Miami Open in the doubles event, where Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff defeated her and her partner Taylor Townsend. The Canadian Press awarded her the 2021 Bobbie Rosenfeld Award.
