The Georgia Bulldogs welcomed wide receiver Colbie Young back to practice on Monday after several months away from the team. Young, a senior transfer from Miami, is still facing misdemeanor charges of battery and assault on an unborn child after an arrest on Oct. 8.https://sportupnow.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Colbie-Young-UGA.
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reports that Young will not be able to play in games until his court date on Dec. 10. However, the Bulldogs hope the case will result in the charges against Young being dropped.
The details of the initial arrest are disturbing to say the least. A police report documenting the situation claims that Young arrived at the woman’s apartment to discuss their relationship and became aggravated when she answered a phone call during the conversation. It states that he then grabbed her and proceeded to “squeeze her torso and abdomen very hard.
The responding officer said he observed bruises that lined up with her account of the events before she was taken to the hospital for treatment, but Young denied he had any role in inflicting the marks.
Young made 11 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs prior to his arrest.
