Michigan Wolverines football head coach, Sherrone Moore, has been handed a two-game suspension following an NCAA investigation into violations that occurred during the 2024 football season. The NCAA has determined that Moore, along with certain members of the staff, failed to comply with required protocols and guidelines, specifically in areas concerning recruitment practices and player eligibility.
The decision was announced by Michigan’s athletic department and has raised concerns within the university’s football program. The suspension will keep Moore sidelined for Michigan’s upcoming games against two key conference opponents. During this time, Michigan will be required to make operational adjustments, with offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell stepping in as the acting head coach.
According to reports from the NCAA, the violations stem from improper interactions with high school recruits and failure to adhere to recruitment calendar regulations. Michigan’s athletic director, Warde Manuel, addressed the suspension in a statement, expressing disappointment but emphasizing the program’s commitment to complying with NCAA regulations. “We take full responsibility for these issues, and we will continue to work closely with the NCAA to ensure that our program operates in full accordance with the rules,” Manuel said.
The suspension comes at a critical juncture in the Wolverines’ season, as they are currently vying for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
