Scorpions, the legendary German rock band, have postponed their much-anticipated Las Vegas residency as drummer Mikkey Dee continues to recover from a life-threatening health issue. This decision, announced in January 2025, came as a result of Dee’s need to focus on his health and well-being, following a difficult medical ordeal. Fans of the band, who had eagerly awaited the residency set to take place at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood, were met with disappointment but expressed understanding and support for Dee’s recovery.
Mikkey Dee, who joined the Scorpions in 2016, has been an integral part of their lineup, known for his powerful drumming and energetic performances. Prior to his involvement with Scorpions, Dee made a name for himself as the drummer for Motörhead, further solidifying his reputation as one of rock’s most skilled and dynamic percussionists. While the specific nature of his medical condition has not been disclosed, the band has made it clear that Mikkey Dee’s health is their priority at this time.
In a heartfelt statement, the band expressed their regret over the postponement but reassured fans that they are fully committed to resuming the residency once Dee is able to return to full health. “Mikkey is an essential part of the band and our family, and we will not move forward without him,” said lead guitarist Rudolf Schenker. “Our fans have always shown incredible support for us, and we know they will understand and be patient as Mikkey recovers.”
The Las Vegas residency, originally scheduled to begin in early February, was set to showcase some of the Scorpions’ most iconic songs as well as new material from their recent albums. The band had been looking forward to performing in a more intimate setting, allowing them to connect with fans in a unique and memorable way.
This delay is yet another challenge for Scorpions, who have faced various obstacles over the years, including the impact of the global pandemic on touring and live shows. However, the band’s resilience and dedication to their craft have kept them going strong, and they have promised fans that their rock and roll journey will continue once Mikkey Dee is fully recovered.
As of now, there is no official word on when the residency will be rescheduled, but the Scorpions have assured fans that they will keep them updated on any developments. Fans who had already purchased tickets for the Las Vegas shows are advised to check with their point of purchase for refund or rescheduling options.
