Welcome Home: Boston College Football Star QB Grayson James Breaks Silence After Inking New Five-Year Contract with Eagles
Boston, MA – April 22, 2025 – Boston College fans are celebrating in full force as star quarterback Grayson James officially broke his silence today following the announcement of his new five-year contract extension with the Eagles. The 22-year-old signal-caller, who led the team to an impressive 10-3 record last season, addressed the media for the first time since inking the deal that cements his status as the face of the program.
“This is home,” James said during a press conference at Alumni Stadium. “Boston College believed in me from day one, and I’m ready to keep building something special here. We’re not done yet.”
The new deal, reportedly valued at $6.5 million over five years including NIL partnerships and performance bonuses, makes James one of the highest-compensated players in the ACC under the current NIL landscape. His extension comes amid growing interest from other programs and speculation that he might explore the transfer portal or declare early for the NFL Draft.
Instead, James chose loyalty.
“I had options, sure,” James admitted. “But at the end of the day, I want to win right here. I want to be a part of the legacy we’re building at BC.”
Last season, James threw for 3,124 yards and 28 touchdowns, with only six interceptions. His leadership on and off the field has made him a fan favorite and a respected figure in the locker room. Under his guidance, the Eagles made their first appearance in the ACC Championship Game since joining the conference in 2005.
Head Coach Jeff Hafley praised the quarterback’s decision. “Grayson is everything you want in a leader. He’s a competitor, a teammate, and a phenomenal young man. This is a massive step for our program’s future.”
The contract extension also includes commitments from Boston College to invest further in player development, facility upgrades, and recruiting efforts—a clear sign the university is going all-in on its football resurgence.
James closed the press conference with a message for Eagles Nation.
“To everyone who’s ever supported me, thank you. Let’s make these next five years unforgettable.”
With the 2025 season just months away, the Eagles will take the field with their star quarterback at the helm and a growing belief that something special is brewing in Chestnut Hill.
