Tempe, AZ — April 24, 2025 — In a groundbreaking move that redefines the landscape of college football, Arizona State University has officially unveiled a record-setting $5.3 billion renovation to Mountain America Stadium, setting a new standard in collegiate athletics.
Dubbed the most ambitious stadium transformation in NCAA history, the newly upgraded Mountain America Stadium now boasts cutting-edge technology, expanded seating, and an unprecedented level of luxury, making it one of the most advanced football venues in the world.
The extensive renovation includes a complete redesign of fan areas, featuring over 100 luxury suites, private skyboxes, and climate-controlled club seating. A new upper deck expands the stadium’s capacity to over 80,000 seats, allowing more fans than ever to witness the Sun Devils in action. High-definition video boards—among the largest in college football—wrap around the interior, providing 360-degree views of the action, replays, and interactive fan content.
“This is more than just a stadium renovation,” said ASU President Michael Crow at the unveiling ceremony. “It’s a statement about the future of collegiate sports, student-athlete experience, and the role of innovation in fan engagement. We’re proud to deliver a venue that matches the energy and ambition of Sun Devil Nation.”
Other features include a fully-integrated 5G network, smart ticketing systems, immersive AR fan experiences, and a sustainability-focused infrastructure, including solar panel arrays and zero-waste initiatives. The stadium will also serve as a multi-use venue for concerts, major sporting events, and year-round university functions.
Athletic Director Ray Anderson called the renovation a “game-changer,” saying, “We’ve created a space that rivals anything in the NFL. It’s not just about watching a game—it’s about living the experience.”
The project was funded through a combination of private investment, corporate sponsorships, and long-term naming rights deals. The Mountain America Stadium name remains in place following an extended partnership with the financial institution.
Sun Devil fans will get their first look at the new stadium when ASU hosts its season opener this fall, with demand for tickets already surging.
With this historic investment, Arizona State University has signaled a bold new era for college football, pushing the boundaries of what a student-athlete and fan experience can be.
