The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (10-2, 6-2) play the No. 2 Texas Longhorns (11-1, 7-1) in Atlanta, Georgia, in the 2024 SEC championship game. Saturday’s game will kick off at 4 p.m. ET and will be televised on ABC.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is 2-4 in his career in SEC championships. The Bulldogs play Texas, who is making their first ever SEC championship appearance under head coach Steve Sarkisian. Georgia previously handed Texas the Longhorns’ only loss of the season back in October. Georgia is three-point underdogs against Texas according to BetMGM.

Georgia is playing in its fourth straight SEC championship. The Bulldogs lost a 27-24 heartbreaker to the Alabama Crimson Tide last season in the SEC title game. The winner of the SEC championship will receiver a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.

Let’s take a look at this week’s edition of “Behind Enemy Lines” with Trey Luerssen of Longhorns Wire.

Extremely excited. Texas has an opportunity to do something historic – win the SEC in its first year in the conference. When the move to the SEC was announced in 2021, Longhorns fans were chided by rivals and non-rivals alike, “You’re going to get killed in the SEC!”

Admittedly, the Texas team in 2021 wasn’t ready. Steve Sarkisian was a good hire in the sense he knew what it would take to win in the league. In hindsight, it was important to hire someone with SEC experience. Now they have one more big hurdle.
