Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian gets contract extension raise….

Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian has received a contract extension and a raise following a successful 2023 season, underscoring the university’s commitment to his leadership of the Longhorns football program. Sarkisian, who was hired in 2021 to revitalize Texas football, led the team to an 11-2 record and a berth in the Sugar Bowl, where they defeated Mississippi State. This marks a notable achievement for the Longhorns, as they prepared to enter the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in 2024, signaling a new chapter for the program.

The extension, which includes a raise in salary, reflects the growing confidence in Sarkisian’s ability to guide the team to national prominence. His ability to recruit top-tier talent, along with his success in developing players, has been evident in his first few years at Texas. The Longhorns saw significant improvements in offensive production and overall team performance under Sarkisian’s watch, particularly during the 2023 season, which included key wins against ranked opponents such as Alabama.

Sarkisian’s new deal reinforces the university’s investment in the football program as they transition to the SEC. The move is also a recognition of the program’s trajectory under his leadership. His recruitment efforts, highlighted by the signing of highly-ranked recruits and transfers, are seen as key to building a competitive team in the tough SEC environment. Additionally, the development of quarterback Quinn Ewers, who showed marked improvement in 2023, has also been a testament to Sarkisian’s coaching prowess.

The contract extension not only solidifies Sarkisian’s position at the helm but also provides the financial resources needed to continue building a top-tier coaching staff and attract premier talent. It is part of a broader effort by Texas Athletics to compete at the highest level and to establish a program that can consistently challenge for conference titles and, eventually, national championships.

With this new contract, Sarkisian’s focus will now be on continuing to elevate the program as Texas prepares for the rigors of SEC football. The extension sends a clear message that the Longhorns are serious about their football future and that Sarkisian is the man to lead them into the new era of college football.
