BREAKING NEWS: Netflix Releases Highly Anticipated Documentary on New York Knicks Star Jalen Brunson

NEW YORK, July 10, 2025 — Netflix has officially dropped the long-awaited sports documentary chronicling the meteoric rise of New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson. Titled “Brunson: Heart of the Garden,” the film debuted today to a wave of buzz and critical praise, diving deep into the life, struggles, and triumphs of the Knicks’ emotional leader and rising NBA icon.

The documentary, which runs 95 minutes, charts Brunson’s journey from his early years in Illinois to becoming the face of one of the NBA’s most storied franchises. Fans and critics alike have long clamored for a deeper look at the underdog guard who transformed the Knicks into legitimate contenders and re-energized Madison Square Garden with his gritty play and unshakable leadership.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ezra Holland, the documentary features never-before-seen footage, intimate interviews with Brunson’s family, coaches, and teammates—including Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau and fellow stars Julius Randle and Josh Hart—as well as behind-the-scenes access to the Knicks’ historic 2023–24 playoff run. That postseason saw Brunson average over 32 points per game, earning widespread recognition as one of the league’s top clutch performers.

“Jalen represents everything New York basketball is about—toughness, accountability, and heart,” said Holland at the premiere screening held Tuesday night in Manhattan. “This isn’t just a sports story. It’s a human story about belief, work ethic, and beating the odds.”

Social media exploded following the release, with #BrunsonDoc trending on X (formerly Twitter) and fans praising the emotional depth of the film. One memorable scene recounts the moment Brunson signed with the Knicks in 2022—a move many initially questioned—only to emerge as a franchise cornerstone just two seasons later.

Netflix executives are optimistic the documentary will reach audiences beyond basketball circles. “This is more than a Knicks story,” said Tanya Melendez, Netflix’s head of sports content. “It’s about identity, legacy, and proving doubters wrong.”

“Brunson: Heart of the Garden” is now streaming globally on Netflix, coinciding with the Knicks’ current offseason moves and renewed championship hopes heading into the 2025–26 season.

Fans of basketball, underdog stories, and New York sports culture won’t want to miss this instant classic.
