RAPID WINGER IS WHAT LIVERPOOL WANT, A REPORTER SAYS, YEARS AFTER REDS MISSED OUT

Liverpool are back in for Jeremy Doku and are showing a strong interest in signing the Rennes winger this summer.

Jeremy Doku is once again being linked with a move to Liverpool this summer as Jurgen Klopp weighs up his options.

That is according to French reporter Mohamed Toubache-Ter, who initially posted a picture of Doku and Jurgen Klopp side by side.

Toubache-Ter then followed up on that post by stating that Doku to Liverpool isn’t done by any means but Liverpool’s interest is strong.

It wouldn’t be a summer transfer window without Doku being linked with Liverpool, would it?

This has been going on for years now, even going back to Doku’s time with Anderlecht.

Doku’s father admitted that they took a trip to Anfield in 2018 and discussed a transfer with Jurgen Klopp seeing Sadio Mane-like potential in Doku.

Doku’s father added that everything was ready to go but the deal fell through, with the winger instead ending up replacing Raphinha at Rennes.

Liverpool are still constantly linked with Doku though and it looks like this rumour isn’t completely going away just yet.

It’s hard to see Liverpool signing Jeremy Doku this summer

Doku will probably always be on the Liverpool radar as they look to see if he can fulfil his early potential.

The 21-year-old has so much speed and dribbling ability but his end product is still developing at Rennes.

11 goals and 10 assists in 90 games shows that Doku is still trying to put everything together in his game.

That record doesn’t really smack of Doku making a huge Premier League move this summer and another attacker arriving at Liverpool would be a surprise.

Liverpool have invested in Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo and still have Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.

Maybe Liverpool are considering a winger as Mohamed Salah will be heading to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

It’s hard to see that being a top priority though, especially when Liverpool still need to bring in a couple of midfielders.

Doku wouldn’t come cheap given his potential and we think Liverpool are better off spending their money elsewhere right now.
